3 Reasons Why We Need Insurance

The Have and Have Nots

With all of the healthcare debate going on in the news media, we as a country are constantly bombarded with information on reform and why it is necessary to cover individuals and families with regards to health insurance.

The basic question we are trying to answer is “Why We Need Insurance”?
When you are young it, is your parents and/or guardian that make sure you are well cared for and that any mishaps or accidents are attended to quickly. As you reach the age of 18, your parents have relinquished their responsibility to you as a responsible adult to take care of yourself and those around you.

Insurance is a tried and true method of covering yourself and your assets in the event an unforeseen situation occurs. Our society relies on the insurance model to protect ourselves, our families and others in case of an accident or mishap, just like our parents protected us as we were small.

Here are 3 reasons why you need insurance:

1.    Insurance Protection can provide replacement of your car, home or other personal item that has been lost or damaged. Your level of protection is the amount you are willing to pay the provider on a monthly basis to protect you asset in case of an accident, fire, flood or other event.

2.    Health insurance is there to give you and your family peace of mind and coverage when health issues arise. Physician care is expensive and insurance can help pay for all or most of the needed services and medication necessary to keep everyone healthy.

3.    Lack of carrying proper insurance is common due to the costs of monthly premiums. However, our society has become a 2 class system of have and have-nots with regards insurance. For those who cannot afford the monthly premium, they rely on the government and others to assist them when they need help. They do without certain privileges and run the risk of causing greater harm to themselves and their loved ones by deferring proper care and medication.

In summary, we need insurance protection to our loved ones and others when an unforeseen issue arises. If we cannot find a way to make insurance affordable, our society will continue to become a social order of “Have and Have Not’s”.
