Re-gifting is a common practice that happens around the holidays. When a gift has been received but is not wanted it can land in someone else’s hands. Instead of re-gifting, some people unknowingly do the next best thing and will eventually put it on a shelf or in the back of the closet which essentially becomes the “Never Will Use Pile”.
If you want to prevent your gift from ending up in a box in the back of your husband’s a closet, a new strategy may be in order. The main reason he puts your gift out of the way never to be seen again is typically done because it has not made a connection to his current interests or needs.
With a little extra thought, your gift will be more appreciated and could be the best present he has ever opened. Instead of guessing whether or not the present will be appreciated, you may want to keep an eye out for a project he has been putting a lot of time into.
Once you have identified something of interest to him, start looking for things that may be a good fit within the theme. One example, might be the basement bar or game room he has been working on. His new man cave or game room that might follow a certain concept or theme and be the perfect area to focus in on when searching for the right gifts..
If he likes sports or rock music, you can find wall hangings, lamps or even neon signs that can fit become part of the theme or motif. If football, hockey or baseball is his thing, you can find lamps, vintage clocks or even plank wall hangings that can go with the concept. Of course, you may have already given him a tie or a mug, but a decoration he can display with pride in his man space can be much more meaningful and appreciated.
Whatever his interests, gifts that are geared toward those areas will be much more treasured than a tie or new shirt as long as you find something that mixes well with his new project.
