If you struggle to find the right gift for your husband, it can be a simple process of picking something for his “Man Cave” or while he is on the road. Avoid the typical response for Christmas morning, “umm, thanks dear, I will definitely use this” and light up his eyes with something special and well thought out.

Your present should be match his new interests that has been his primary focus this year. If not, it will sit in the back of the closet or garage and never be seen again until you see it in the donation pile several years in the future.

Springing for a flatscreen Television for his “Man Cave” may be another option now that they have come down in price over the past couple of years. Additionally, you can complete the ensemble with a mini-keg beer system. Having a new flat panel and a fresh mug of beer will probably keep him and down there for hours, which may not be such a bad thing.

If he travels, he has been stuck in the middle of many one horse towns. His hotel room is his sanctuary from a long day trying to resolve issues and keeping the customer happy. Most of the rinky dink hotels have very basic radios that churn out local yokel stations much to the dismay of the traveler who is looking for something more. Of course he probably has an iPod, but has to wear earbuds to hear the music.

His laptop can be the better choice for soothing tunes. After a hard day, he can turn to portable speaker systems to experience music and movies from his laptop. You can purchase a Small portable speaker system that he can hook up to the USB port of his laptop. They work well to deliver superior audio while he relaxes in his home away from home.

These are just two areas you can use as the basis for your husband’s gift this holiday season…Pick out that special something and increase your chance that they he will actually use it this year. Focus on his man cave or his ability to relax while on the road, as the source of your inspiration and he will appreciate the thought and effort to make it special.

Going to a movie on a Friday or Saturday night has become a very expensive outing. Even the traditional Saturday matinee can cost a great deal when you want to treat the family to an afternoon treat. As ticket and popcorn prices increase year over year, more people are turning to home based theater systems as their entertainment vehicle of choice.

With flat screen prices coming down the technology becoming more mainstream a home based theater system has become a better alternative. The costs for a home entertainment system can provide level sound and visual effects very similar to what you would see at the local move-plex. In addition, you do not have to worry about talkers and cell phones interrupting your viewing pleasure.

Designing a home based system requires some research and a set budget to help you define the parameters for what you can afford. A flat screen television is your primary purchase that will need the most investigation. There are several sizes to choose from and you will need to measure the space on the wall or shelf to ensure the one you are looking at will fit.

You will also need to measure the distance from the screen to the seating areas to keep the viewing distance to size ratio within reason. Having a 65″ TV sitting 6′ in front of you may not be the best ratio for your situation. Sizing the TV to your viewing area will be based on several factors like size, lighting, viewing angles and whether or not you purchase a hi-definition system.

As part of your research, you will come across expert opinions for viewing ranges but the ultimate decision on how to setup your home theater will be based on your own criteria and the space you have to work with.

Flat Screen Prices are coming down. You can have hours of fun in you man cave with a great 65″ Flat Screen TV and a Beer tender on game day.

Similar to horseshoes, teams or individual players compete by throwing or tossing small bean bags at their opponent’s board to score the most points.

A bean bag toss game can be purchased for less than $100 bucks, but if you are handy, they can also be made fairly easily. Essentially, there are 2 game boards each made of plywood that constitute the targets. These boards are about 24 inches wide and about 36 to 48 inches long. Each game board is angled at a slight forward pitch. This creates a bit of challenge for the bag tosser when trying to keep the bag on the game board. If the bag slides onto the ground, the team will not receive a point toward their goal.

“Corn holes” are cut into the top and positioned vertically or staggered across the board. These holes are the targets that the opponent shoots for to try and score more points. Holes can be range from 4 to 6 inches in diameter. The smaller the hole, the more challenging it becomes.

Once the game boards have been made, the next step is to make the bean bags. Start by selecting the basic fabric you want to use for your bean bag. You can recycle old blankets, shirts or even an old pillow case can be used.

You can also purchase material from the local craft or department store. Either way, the fabrics can range from common cotton or polyester blends to softer materials like fleece or flannel.

Once you decide on the fabric, cut them into 4 to 6 inch squares. Each bag will need 2 square pieces cut for each side. You will need a total of 8 squares for 4 bags. The next step is to find the right size beans to fill the inside. You can find standard dried beans at the local grocery store. Some people will use dried feed corn instead of beans for more mold resistance.

After the squares have been cut and the filler beans have been obtained, the next step is to sew the sides of each bag together. You want to make sure you use the strongest thread available and do a double stitch process to even more strength to help prevent the bags from tearing open during play. Sew all sides together leaving one side with about a 2 inch opening. Place a small funnel into the hole and add your bean or corn material to the bag. You should fill each bag about 2/3 full but be careful not to overfill.

You are now ready to try out your new bean bag toss game. Your surveillance system should be designed based on your level of comfort and desired need.

The small nanny cam or wall clock devices help to monitor others whom may not be treating your property or your children properly while you are gone. These type of systems provide peace of mind or in some cases, proof that there is something going on. Tiny cameras hidden in a stuffed animal or other common device can record small bits of time and without cords or wires. They can sit anywhere and because they have motion sensors built in, can turn on only when people are in the room.

The more sophisticated variety allows you to monitor all external entrances to your home for potential intruders and undesirables. Using motion detectors, infrared sensors and more sophisticated cameras these systems can transmit wireless images to a central digital recorder anywhere in the home. Once installed, the system gives you the ability to record all areas of your home to ensure maximum viewing capability for quick response if needed.
