Surviving a Regional disaster like a tornado or hurricane can be devastating experience. Hurricane Katrina was one example of how pets and owners were separated during the storm. Dogs can go missing and easily be misplaced during chaotic situations.

If you have suffered from a natural or man made disaster, you know that most of your focus will be on your safety and the safety of your family. However, your pet can also be lost during these situations. Although they are part of your family, they can easily be lost during. There are several ways to ensure you can be re-united with your pet if they are lost during a home or regional disaster… Preparing for an Emergency can be one of the smartest things to do!

Of course the low tech pet tag is one of the main ways an owner can have their lost pet returned, but there are other technologies that can also be applied.

GPS collars are good for locating your pet when they have been misplaced during a storm. GPS systems, similar to what is installed in your car or on your cell phone can be used to track down your pet.
